Hi everyone, welcome back to another blog with Morty! I know that it’s been a while but I am back! Last month was a little busy for me and so I had to prioritize my energy on myself. Which brings me to today’s blog post, where we will be talking about slowing down and taking care of yourself.
So as you know, here in Canada, we get 4 seasons in one day! Haha, I wish I was joking (which obviously I am by the way, for anyone who doesn’t live in Canada) but honestly though, it really feels like that sometimes. We have entered into fall which I absolutely love! But we’ve also entered flu season! With that being said, guess who got the flu recently? Yup. The one and only, Morty! I mean, I know no one likes being sick, but when I tell you that I absolutely DO NOT like getting sick, oh I mean it. I don’t like how weak I feel, everything is 10x more heavy to carry (which doesn’t really help the fact that I’ve been going to the gym, and that’s already hard enough lol), I’m constantly wanting to be in bed, I have no energy and well the list goes on.
So I know that it sounds like I’m going on a rant and complaining about being sick but I’m doing it for a reason. I don’t know about you, but I try to look at life like it sometimes gives me things or doesn’t, on purpose. Maybe this happens to you through your higher power and maybe some of you have no idea what it is that I’m getting at. Ok well maybe, just maybe, my higher power is telling me to slow down. I know it may sound silly to some because anyone can get sick and that’s totally true. But I can’t help but think about the last two months or so, and how hard I’ve been on myself. I mean, to me I don’t see a problem with it because I love feeling efficient. But getting sick and having no choice really but to stay in bed, really made me think about how important it is that we take care of ourselves, as our number one priority.
So how can we do that? Well, what works for me might not work for you, so you have to be open to trying different ways of self-care to eventually find yours. Yup, self-care during this time, is really important. Actually, it should be an all-year routine but you know, life happens and no one is perfect. I like to go on Pinterest or YouTube and look up “self-care” ideas. You’ll be amazed at how many different possibilities there are for you to try. You know, a lot of people wait for January 1st to start living differently, but why not start today? Honestly, writing about this really helps me too because it’s sort of like a reminder. This a reminder to slow down, to understand that getting sick happens and it sucks, but we can do what we can, to give ourselves that love and care that it needs, and to remind ourselves that we can only worry about today.
So I will end the blog here today, I actually have an important meeting today that I have to get ready for and I can’t be late! Anyhow, I hope everyone has had a good week so far and for anyone struggling with anything, I hope you find peace and hope during this time of healing.
Till next time,
-Morty
