Good Tidings my Timeless Friends,

Christmas.

A time for reflection.

A time for comfort.

A time for peace.

All of these things are happening all around us even as we speak Whether we are speaking ill of others, whether we are speaking ill of ourselves, or perhaps whether we are being told we should not speak our truths…

Christmas.

A time for renewal.

A time for redemption.

A time for forgiveness.

All of these things are happening around us. We may not be the first ones who are experiencing the moment… but, stop… look around you… Christmas happens around us… all of these things happen whether we want them to or not, whether we like them or not, whether we believe in them or not…

They ARE happening.

Christmas.

Family.

Friends.

Love.

This is Christmas…
you can be you own family…
you can be your very own best damn friend you ever had… and… the love that is within you…

This is something we should be feeling all year… not just at Christmas…

So, my favourite Christmas Critters…

I found by grounding myself with meditation and continuing to practice my spirituality…
I know that my Christmas, alone with my dog, is going to be:
The Most Beautiful Christmas I Have Ever Had Yet.

Focusing on my family still not supporting my recovery at almost 14 months sober, or my reunion with my child, but now here I am, during Christmas, without any of my family…

And I
Know how hard I have worked… I know how much I have changed…I know who I truly am…

And…

Know…

That I am okay.

I am sober.

And…

My Fabulous Snow Angels:

I turned my pain, loneliness, and sorrow into an adventure of joy for the Christmas season.

This is what recovery is about: living.

Christmas.

Living.

Loving.

Doing.

Let’s go!!

Turn the Christmas music up!! Play your favourite Christmas music… whether that is real Christmas carols or that is heavy metal… play it!!

Decorate!!
Yes!!
MORE THAN THAT!!!
Yes…
More than that!!

Drink your favourite warm drinks…
Hot chocolate…
Lattes…
Egg nog…

Make your home inviting to… YOU!!!
Make it feel like Christmas to you.

A little bit in every room really does go a long way…
A shower curtain…
A throw blanket…
A few hand towels.

Allow the kid in yourself to come back out!

I know… it’s gonna feel awkward… it might hurt… you probably will want to push it alllllllll the way back down again.

I did.

And I did push it back down again.

And then…
I went on this magical journey…

On a trolley…
To a land where all of the women on the trolley were 10 years old again…
And…
We got to go to an amazing town…
Where it was Christmas time in lights…
And…
Every house had a Santa as big as King Kong…
And…
We sang Christmas Carols…
And…
I remembered…

What it was like to believe in the magic of Christmas.

Thank you SHH for the wonderful Christmas Party.

The magic of Christmas is found within…
It’s found everywhere…
And…
It’s nothing you can really find at all…

It is just something you can feel whenever you want to…
Christmas can be hard for a lot of us… most of us… but, the Creator has been blessing us with love for many years… we have
been through so many challenges…
We have overcome so many obstacles…
Christmas.
Allow yourself to love yourself the way you deserve to be loved.
The way the Creator has created you to be loved.
And…
Christmas…
Will find you.

So, my dearest wonderful beautiful friends…

Find yourself some amazing food…
Some amazing Christmas movies…
Get super comfy…
And…
Remember…

The Magic of Christmas

“You see that magical gift the shoppers sought for so long,
was not in the shopping or scurrying along.
That magical gift so desperately sought
was the Spirit of Christmas -which could never be bought.”
